- Am I eligible for veterans education?
Yes, generally speaking if you: Were on active duty and discharged with an honorable discharge. Did you pay $ 1,200 into the Montgomery G. I. Bill program while on active duty? Once you are discharged from the U.S. Armed Forces you have 10 years to use your MGIB. You would not be eligible if you have gone past your 10 year delimiting date. As an example, if you were discharged in 1989 your educational benefits would have run out in 1999. As a SDARNG member do you have a current 6 year contact? Do you have a Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE) Were you activated after 9-11. You are not eligible for MGIB once you have left the National Guard.
